Before I begin explaining how the deep state operates, I want to say something about making any conclusions. Calling what is going on in our government a “deep state” sounds very ominous. I have read countless stories blaming a “deep state” for everything from the floundering economy to the campaign against Trump. It is that, but it’s much more. The deep state has been with us for decades and is not a simple faction or organization of people that collectively know they are the deep state. It isn’t a sinister plot to destroy America, rather it is a collection of people and institutions doing what they believe needs to be done. The problem that arises is that there are no rules and consequently there is no oversight or accountability. This causes mass corruption. To say corruption is rampant would be a gross understatement of fact. In order to run a deep state, outside the laws of our country, or any country requires tons of cash….and boy, I’m talking a lot of cash. As I found out, in my 10 part series, “INTO THE WEEDS”, the cash that traveled through the Clinton Foundation was historic. I approached that series strictly from the point of view of corruption, but it became more than that. The money from the corporate world, that found its way into the Clinton’s pockets, was also used to shape world events. Its still going on, and it can all be referred to as the status quo…..that so many in government and the corporate world want…..no!….. need, to have continue. The election of Trump was totally unexpected by the deep state. They never thought the American people would become wise to all they were doing to further their mission. I think we can credit technology and the internet age of communication as the vehicle that made it possible. Slowly but surely, Americans, at least, are becoming aware and educated into how government works, and why it’s not working for Americans.
Let’s begin, shall we?
In part 1 of this story, I outlined a bigger picture of the deep state as a fight between nationalism and globalism. I believe there has to be a reason for the deep state to exist. If you want a simple answer: the purpose of the deep state is to keep commerce working. And not just working, but flourishing. Although that answer is fundamental, it is way more complex than that. Up to 911, all situations in the world, no matter how complex, would respond to one of two stimuli: Money or force. The deep state controls both. What happened after 911 was the new problem of religion entering the equation. After 17 years, neither force nor money can dissuade radical Islam from its mission. But that’s another story for another day.
Also in part 1, I very briefly laid out a few names connected directly to the deep state. Of course, I hope you know, there are many, many players, all with various roles, which contribute to its maintaining its grip on governance. In case you haven’t noticed….notice now….that so many of the high officials in our government, are recycled from administration to administration. Eric Holder, deputy AG under Clinton, and AG under Obama. James Comey, Deputy AG under Bush Jr., and FBI director under Obama, George Bush Sr. VP under Reagan, then president. Loretta Lynch, lead US attorney in the New York District under Clinton, then AG under Obama. Louis Freeh, Appointed US District Court judge by Bush Sr. then FBI director under Clinton. Robert Mueller, assistant AG under Bush Sr. then FBI director under Bush Jr., now special council under Trump. On and on it goes. We are expected to believe these men and women are the most qualified people to serve. But what is more plausible, is their allegiance to the deep state. What allows the deep state to continue unabated, is its secrecy. I alluded to this in part 1. As long as the players are kept out of jail, allowed to keep their ill gotten gains, and not punished in any way, that secrecy remains in tact and the control is maintained. This is why the likes of James Comey, Eric Holder, John Ashcroft, Hillary Clinton and several presidents must be included. There is one exception to the rule of unequivocal secrecy. If secrecy is violated, or threatened to be violated……there is only one consequence. That consequence is death. And they all know it.
There’s an old saying that all investigators use to get to the truth. “Follow the money”. I did that. I can find where the money comes from, how it circulates. I can even tell you, who are getting a lot of it. But what I cannot find is how it is being used and where it winds up. I can make guesses, but that’s just what they are….guesses based on visible activities.

For example: In my piece on Gilbert Chagoury, a Nigerian businessman, I learned that he worked closely with Marc Rich, selling Nigerian oil, then skimmed money from the sale, laundered it through Russian or Swiss banks, then donated heavily to the Clinton Foundation, who then allowed America to look the other way in all his illegal activities. This example is absolutely not unusual. This is going on in Columbia, Iran, Angola, South Africa, Venezuela, Haiti, North Korea and dozens of other countries all over the world. The question to ask is why does America participate?
Like I said above the simple answer is “to keep commerce moving, and the money flowing into the right pockets”. A more difficult answer to explain, is that many American players believe it is in our “interest” to do so. In some cases, this might even have credence. But in the bigger picture, this has done more harm to American prominence than any other single deed. It’s almost impossible to chronicle these events, without understanding why so many nations hate us. Our meddling in the affairs of other countries can have very large consequences. War, revolution, civil unrest, and especially terrorism are just some of those consequences.
I have had dozens of debates on isolationism. Before I began this research, I sensed that isolationism might be a better course than the course we’re on. Now I understand why I sensed that. There are those that believe sincerely that intervening in world affairs is our responsibility. In a fashion, after you understand the deep state, and understand why we intervene, you will soon gather that we are a direct cause of conflict in many countries, which causes the necessity for intervention. But let me also say, we are not the only cause. I am not an America basher. Corrupt leaders, poverty, ignorance, hunger, and other local problems also lead to poor outcomes. There are 193 countries in the world. We certainly don’t cause all the problems in all of them……just the ones that have the resources we want, in the furtherance of globalism and world commerce.

The best way to explain how the deep state works is to look at one individual, you, most likely, never heard of…..Marc Rich. Marc Rich epitomizes the work of the deep state. Mr. Rich died in 2013, he was 78. In 1999 Mr. Rich was on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list. He was an unconvicted fugitive, living in Zug, Switzerland. He ran a business named Glencore, which still exists. Glencore and Marc Rich were well known commodity traders. They bought oil, wheat, aluminum, coal, gold, and silver from anyone that would sell it, and then resell those commodities to anyone that would buy them. But why was it unusual…its done everyday? Right? This gets us to why Marc Rich was wanted.
In order for a foreign policy to work, sometimes America has to impose economic sanctions on countries that break economic trading rules, oppress their people, or misbehave in other ways. The only way economic sanctions can pay dividends and dissuade bad acts, is if all other countries honor those sanctions by enforcing them in their own countries. What Marc Rich did was defy those sanctions, He would buy oil from Iran, Cocoa from Columbia, coal from North Korea….all while they were under UN sanctions. He would sell those commodities on the spot market. When the US shut off Russian imports of our wheat due to sanctions imposed because of Russian intervention in Afghanistan, Marc Rich sold them wheat from Venezuela. As you might expect, someone can make a boatload of money doing this. But how can you get away with it? You see, while our “public” foreign policy is one thing, our deep state foreign policy is quite another. Let’s take Columbia for example. If Columbia’s president (Uribe) is ignoring drug lords that sell and ship cocaine, then sanctions on their shipments of their commodities might help to change those activities. BUT! What if there’s a commercial interest that need’s the president’s help to “keep commerce moving and the money flowing into the right pockets” ? It would seem in Columbia, they also had oil. The oil industry was a national industry….in other words owned and operated by the government. If your oil and other exports were under sanction, what should you do? Stop working with the drug lords, or find another way to sell your commodities? You call your friend Bill Clinton. He introduces you to

Frank Guistra from Canada who agrees to take over your oil industry….for a price, of course. Then that oil can be sold to Glencore, through several shell companies, and then sold on the spot market, and the money flows back through some Bermudans’ bank, with cuts coming off for all the players. Since the oil is not producing the revenues it once produced, the unions start whining about being paid. The president of Columbia can certainly help with this….and does. The CIA and DEA work to protect the entire operation. What does it look like to the people of Columbia and the world? The drug lords have control of the president. The president is corrupt, he is stealing from the people for the drug lords….and himself. The people are living in poverty while he gets rich. That may be true, but really the people that are making all the money are part of the deep state apparatus. The oil still flows, the other commodities get sold, and the sanctions are rendered feckless. What has to be understood, is the goals of our nation, based on our American values, are just for show. On the other hand, the goals of the deep state based on globalism, prevail. Frank Guistra donated $25 million to the Clinton Foundation and
Denise Rich (Marc’s wife) donated over $100 million. You might ask why would the CIA and DEA go along with this? The people on the ground, I can only assume, have little idea what the big picture is…..they see the same show we see. Their job is to stop the drugs…..they are doing their jobs trying to help a perceived crooked president. And Marc Rich is helping them by furnishing valuable intelligence. The natural reaction of the people is to blame the US for supporting their crooked president. So whose fault is it? We do have a government that is more than capable of doing what’s right…..in this case, stopping the drug lords. But it isn’t easy, when the globalist deep state, actively works against those interests, to “keep commerce moving and the money flowing into the right pockets”.
Now for an even better example of how the deep state works. Russia! Lately, we have heard an awful lot about Russia. Our war with Russia goes back a long way. Communism has never been our thing and all of us have been indoctrinated to hate communists and Russians by extension. We have fought them in everyway possible…and literally, using the deep state, destroyed their economy, and brought the oligarchs to power, ending the cold war. Good thing, right? Maybe not. Many of us have surely had the thought that if we were allied with Russia, our fight against terrorism and rogue nations in general, would be vastly enhanced. So why do Russians hate us? We continue to meddle in their affairs, in almost everyway possible. Why? To “keep commerce moving and the money flowing into the right pockets”.
In Reagan’s second term, our publicized foreign policy with Russia was one of achievable cooperation….Glasnost! (Openness) When Gorbachev came to power, he changed the climate of the cold war. We, as a nation, could have changed the world, if we would have embraced that opportunity. But sadly, the deep state had other ideas. They viewed the new policy as an opportunity to destroy Russia, and remove a competitor on the world stage, once and for all. The CIA was very busy devising ways to take Russia down. As trading rules were voluntarily relaxed by Gorbachev, they pounced. Marc Rich, who had close ties with Russian industry, and with the intelligence community, began to buy up billions and billions of Russian Rubbles. This destabilized the currency and caused very high inflation, approaching 300% in that year. It drove prices up by hundreds of percent. The government was unable to stop the inflation. With the Soviet Union in deep financial trouble, Gorbachev resigned, replaced by the popular Boris Yeltsin, the “reformer”. Yeltsin decide to, overnight, change Russia from a communist country to a capitalist, free market economy. He began the process of privatizing all Russian industry and communication businesses, to encourage foreign investment. He promptly gave every citizen a 10,000 ruble voucher, to buy shares in the companies they chose. But with all good intentions, someone will always take advantage. Several rich “investors” (soon to be called oligarchs) bought up millions of those vouchers and quickly took control of the Russian economy. Now what? How would these now private companies join the world market, but yet take advantage of their new found ventures? The CIA was all too willing to help. Enter Marc Rich. Not only could Rich help the CIA with intelligence, he could assist in destroying the Russian economy. Rich became the pivot point for moving Russian Commodities. In one instance he was offered Russian aluminum for pennies on the dollar, for which he paid cash…lots of cash, which the new oligarch pocketed and stiffed the workers. Rich then sold the aluminum on the spot market for far less than market prices, which in turn collapsed the price of aluminum across the world by 30%. This scenario played out in many Russian industries, ultimately, collapsing their economy. Many of these events benefited American companies by reducing commodity prices. The chaos caused in Russia was unprecedented. The deep state had done exactly what it set out to do. Marc Rich and his remaining Glencore, continue to be a source of intrigue and a tool of the CIA to intervene in foreign affairs. A good thing? You’ll have to be the judge. It does further global interests, it assists a lot of multi-national corporations, and it “keeps commerce moving and the money flowing into the right pockets”.
So hopefully, you begin to see how powerful the deep state can be, and how secrecy is so important. Also why people are recycled in and out of the deep state. But not everybody in the world is blind to what is being done. Those that understand, do what they can to oppose America wherever they can. Are they justified? That’s a hard question to answer. The actions of the deep state, surely don’t match up with our American values, and really aren’t helping average Americans. Seemingly, the deep state is also crushing millions of lives in the rest of the world due to their many interventions. But what can be done?
As I stated above, Trump’s election was a shock to the deep state. He’s not a player. He hasn’t quite grasped the enormity of the deep state. The deep state needs cooperation and secrecy from the executive branch. Trump doesn’t appear to be providing that cooperation, so they must find a way to stop his interference in the status quo. So far, he hasn’t done enough to upset the apple cart. Just this week Trump has turned his attention to foreign policy…the purview of the deep state. Will he be able to change course without facing opposition? We shall see!
